2022-2023 biggby Mini Mite Teams

  1. 1 of 4
  2. 2 of 4
  3. 3 of 4
  4. 4 of 4
Mini-Mites is usually a player's first experience on a team

All players need full hockey equipment, including a mouthguard and neck guard,  to participate

Our Mini Mite teams consist of 12-14 players
We typically have 4-6 mini mite teams each season and teams play in our KV/BIGGBY in-house league with no travel!
Mini Mites play half-ice or cross-ice games
The season begins in August with pre-season skates
Teams are formed & begin around Labor Day
The season ends Mid-March
Teams rotate within blocks of time and will skate a combination of Wednesday evenings, Saturdays and Sundays
2 to 4 teams share the ice at a time, depending on the event
Teams will rotate who they share ice with every week
Each ice times is 50 minutes
All players must be registered with KVHA for the season before they are placed on a team
Siblings are automatically placed on the same teams
Beginning in September, there is a monthly ice fee that is separate from the initial registration fee $125*/month.
This ice fee is paid September through February via separate SportsEngine registration.
Teams may attend a tournament at an additional parent expense not included in the monthly ice fee.  All events with an additional cost are optional and do not affect a player's ability to be placed on a team.
Please email office@kvhockey,org if you have more questions or would like additional information.
We have a great program at KV and hope that you consider joining our hockey family.
Parent coaches are welcome and needed on the ice to help run the skates.  All participants must be registered with USA Hockey and complete the necessary coaching modules.
Everyone on the ice must wear a helmet!
*costs listed here are from the current season and are subject to change every season.

We begin the house pre-season with a series of conditioning and skills skates to prepare for the House Evaluations skates leading up to the formation teams at the end of August. The conditioning skates are provided by the association for your child’s benefit and are included in the cost of your yearly registration fees. They are for players to shake off rust, realize that they have outgrown equipment, or just be more comfortable going into the evaluation skates. The drills in these skates are similar to those in the evaluation skates.

Registered players may come to as many of these skates as they are able to attend!

Our player evaluation skates are where we assess player skill level to create a fair and impartial draft of teams resulting in an even playing field across our program.   Mini Mite players are given one overall rating primarily considering the following attributes or skills:

  • Skating overall
  • Stopping, balance and getting up
  • Basic stick and puck
  • Enthusiasm/Attention Span

Registered Players are encouraged to attend as many of these skates as possible. Those players who miss evaluations skates will not be included in the draft. These players will be assigned to teams at the end of the draft based on their registration date, continuing in line with the team order used in the draft. If there is a rating from a prior season, this will also be reviewed to determine the best fit.
