KVHA is inspired to forward the Darian Locklear Memorial Hockey grant to our Raven hockey families.
Following the tragic car accident deaths this past winter of hockey players Darian Locklear and Julianna Ward-Brown, the USA Hockey Foundation was contacted by Troy & Regina Locklear to set up a grant program in memory of their daughter. After Darian’s passing, a family friend set up a GoFundMe page in honor and in memory of Darian and the family has decided to set up a grant fund.
Hockey was Darian’s passion, so it is fitting the funding should go to help other young women to be given the opportunity to play the game and the Darian Locklear Memorial Hockey Grant was established. The goal of the grant fund is to provide grants to U-14 through U-19 female hockey players, who have financial need, reside in Michigan, and are registered with one of a handful of USA Hockey Associations.
Kensington Valley Hockey Association Ravens Girls Hockey is honored to be one of organizations selected by the family to participate in this grant program.
The USA Hockey Foundation will manage the grant award process, the applications will be reviewed by a grant committee and all funds will be sent directly to the respective Associations for registration fees and expenses and will not be sent to the players receiving the grant award.
