I am pleased to announce that KVHA, along with our sponsors, presented an official check to Mott Children's Hospital in Ann Arbor last week for $11,352.77! Members from the 2012 All Star Committee, along with their children, presented the check to the Mott Oncology team, led by Dr. Castle. Dr. Castle is a national figure in the battle against children's cancer and heads up the Pediatric Department at the University of Michigan.

As many of you know, the Anderson family, namely Michael, is cancer free after a year of treatment at Mott. He is a very brave and positive young man and they are an amazing family. Michael is pictured in the center of this photo and rumor has it he took his hat off for the first time in public the day before this event. Keep it high and tight Michael - it looks good!

Plans for next year's event are already underway, and KVHA will expand the All Star day to include all of the KVHA teams and players. This year's event created a lot of excitement and awareness and we saw some really great hockey, as well as a lot of smiling faces. This event is one of those selfless things that typify what a great hockey family we all have at KV.

We'd like to thank all of our sponsors and teams who put together some amazing auction items and organized the teams. We know it was a lot of work but your efforts did not go unnoticed. I'd also like to thank the Ice House (who donated the ice), Norm Kawaelde and all of his referee team (who donated their service), and especially the families and kids who came out to support this great event.

Finally, a huge thanks to the folks on the All Star Committee who put in a ton of work to pull this off: Scott McLaren, Elena Paddison, Jimmy Sokol, Tysen McCarthy, Kirt Anderson, Amy & Scott Staby, Dave & Kathleen Anderson and Trisha Hudgens. Thank you!!
